The 3 Benefits of listening in A Relationship

No relationship can flourish without effective communication between the couple. We always hear about communication being the key in a relationship. Listening and effective communication is the key point that connect husband and wife together. Effective listening and communication is the key point that connects husband and wife together. Effective listening and communication strengthen family relationship. Listening is not an innate skill that all people possess, it is a skill that we must endeavour to learn.

However, If we are always talking and not listening, then communication becomes meaningless. It is not easy to hear what someone else is saying, especially when our feelings, thoughts and opinions are different. Effective communication in a relationship makes any relationship easier, sweet and enjoyable for both husband and wife. Any relationship that lacks effective communication might lead to misunderstanding, frustration, unhappy life, fighting or divorce of such relationship. There are many reasons why you should listen effectively in a relationship.


The following three reasons are why learning to listen benefits our relationships.

1. It Shows Respect
 Without doubt, listening to another party's words shows a sign of respect to the speaker.  When having a discussion, listening to the other person shows that you respect what he or she is saying. Even though we disagree with what’s being said, we still need to respect thoughts and feelings of this individuals. To show respect to your partner, you need to listen to whatsoever your partner is saying.

2. It Helps Us To Understand
 It’s difficult to understand what someone is trying to tell us if we aren’t listening. Listening helps to understand why someone is feeling a certain way. Once we understand, we can move forward with the situation and take the steps needed.

3. It Helps To Be Approachable 
 In relationships, it is one good thing knowing that someone is always there to talk to us about anything. Learning to listen can help others feel comfortable approaching us any time they need or want to talk on anything bothering them. We are likely to have a more open and healthy relationship if we are approachable.

We want others to respect, understand and be approachable to us right? Work on learning to listen and watch your relationship grow in positive ways.
