The most primeval tendency of humans is the need for acceptance.
To
think of it, we'd never feel alone or lonely if we didn't have that
need to be accepted. We spend a certain major amount of time trying to
fulfill that need alone. That simple need in itself is the major cause
for such a hype in social media.

If
asked what is the hardest thing for anyone to do, you'd get diverse
answers. But when asked if deleting your social media account is easier
than what they answered prior, you'd definitely hear a pause. Now why
did social media go from something to stay in touch to to something
addictive. There is two reasons for that:
- You can voice out your opinion LOUD & CLEAR no matter how narrow, offensive or outright stupid it is, you'd still get a like!!
- You always have someone to talk to, can be someone warm and nice or could be a pedophile, you'd never know. But you still have someone to talk to.
Ok I know, When you opened up the post reading the title, you were like, this one is gonna be about how likes are good, how social media isn't all bad, I crave for likes on my photo and it is finally okay to feel so. Sorry to disappoint you.
I'll tell you what, Likes really are good. For a girl who never liked to tell anyone that she was a writer to having post a short story and received thoughtful comments and likes are a confidence booster, for a guy to post a picture which he clicked in a way to make the ordinary look spectacular, likes make him feel like his work is worth something.
'Then why do you say it's bad?'
For the same girl or guy, receiving a certain amount of likes, adds the pressure to do more next time and after all the work of extra struggle is displayed, the likes would've moved on to another post, imagine the torment of that.
Yet we all do it for likes... why??
- Because it is good to know, that someone out there appreciates your work.
- You will know where and how to do better
- You will have them as support knowing you did good, so you can again.
God
bless me!! The joy I'd see in having gained a like for this post. But
at the same time, I'd never let not having likes take my joy away, or
let likes predict how much pride to have.
We all can do it for likes, but don't likes let you tell what you wanna do!!
I
am very thankful to having been given this chance to guest post on
blogger!! Hope I did a good job. For anyone who would like to know more
