SABTrends: Can you please tell our readers about yourself and your blog?
Business-Fundas: I am a faculty member in a QS ranked university, which is one of the top ranked universities in Asia. As a researcher, I have authored/co-authored over 75 research papers and 3 books, which are available in Scopus indexed databases and are highly cited. Blogging, or rather writing, happens to be an old personal hobby. When I was still a doctoral student, I started off my blogs, way back in 2007. A long journey has passed since then, and I keep blogging whenever I get time, to highlight my understanding and developments in research.
My first blog, Business Fundas, is a premium educational blog on business management providing articles on strategy, marketing, supply chain, technology management, social media, e-business, finance, economics and operations management. We have articles on classic and emergent theories and industry best practices, research issues and results, besides giving views on the hottest current topics. Our authors are educators and researchers from top business schools and multinational fortune 500 companies.
My second blog, Tech Talk, is a premium technology and business blog to promote knowledge on the domain of information technology and systems for enabling business processes and social commitments. Articles covers very specialized areas like data analytics, e-governance, e-commerce, web technologies, big data analytics, software project management, telecommunication systems, business management theories, service science, e-payments, internet marketing, finance and other related themes.
SABTrends: Tell us when did you start blogging professionally?
Business-Fundas: I started blogging from 2007, although never thought I would someday become recognized as a professional blogger. Normally, I use the pen name of AK for blogging, which is more of a hobby.
SABTrends: Is blogging your profession or just a hobby?
Business-Fundas: As mentioned earlier, blogging is more of a hobby. I always had an inclination to write and that probably these days get reflected in my research papers. Blogging was an outcome when my research credential was yet to be built and slowly my blogs developed as a repository of articles covering various aspects. However, these days, most of the publishing I do, are research articles, in high impact journals, and some insights in an understandable form is presented in my blog for my readers.
SABTrends: Did you receive any professional assistance or did you created your blog yourself?
Business-Fundas: I created the blog myself. Sometimes I need technical support for which I hire professional web designing individuals, when ever necessary. One of the platforms where I outsource many of my routine promotional work is SEOClerks. Other times, I use a lot of technology and analytics for maintaining my blog.
SABTrends: Give us the latest statistics of your blog (Visitors, daily page views, earning and other stats that you want to share)?
Business-Fundas: For business-fundas.com, we get about 5000 visits per day, while for tech-talk.org, we get about 1500 visits per day, as of November 2016. Mostly people read 1-2 pages before they exit the websites. Most of our traffic is from organic search, when people search for academic concepts and frameworks and land in our website. We don’t publicize our website through digital marketing tactics, solely because traffic isn’t the main focus. Today, both my blogs Tech Talk and Business Fundas are having a domain authority over 35 and page authority over 40. Collectively both these blogs have over 1500 articles as of now.
SABTrends: How do you manage time to run your blog efficiently?
Business-Fundas: It becomes a tough job actually, since on average day, I spend around 6-8 hours on my teaching requirements and advising my phd students. Subsequently, 3-4 hours are spent daily in advisory and consultancy projects. Then academic administration also takes up a couple of hours. After that, when I return home from my work, after dinner, I sit with my blog, late at night. Or sometimes I start off early in the morning at 6am, before I go off to my work. It becomes tiring as a hobby, but then extremely rewarding, when people contact me, after reading my articles.
SABTrends: Images for blog posts is very essential. Do you normally create your own images or do you get them from the Google or websites and give credit back to the original source ?
Business-Fundas: Any content, image or post, is published in our blogs which are uniquely created for our blogs. We do not post any content, image, video or text, which are adapted or taken from any other website.
SABTrends: How do you monetize your blog?
Business-Fundas: I do not directly monetize my blogs. The objective for our blogs is to create a platform for knowledge dissemination and outreach. However, every now and then, we do manage to get some sponsored posts in our blog, which creates some opportunity for funding and supporting the infrastructure provisioning for the blog to stay online.
SABTrends: How would you rate your own blog on a scale of 1 to 10 and why would you rate it that way ?
Business-Fundas: I would rate my blogs at 8. While my blogs have over 1500 articles, I still have too less time to frequently contribute as much as I want to, to my blogs, due to my existing professional commitments. A lot of the current content in my blog is from guest authors, but ideally, I would prefer to write more articles myself in my blog. Unfortunately, time is a serious constraint.
SABTrends: How would you rate SABTrends Blog on a scale of 1 to 10 and why would you rate it that way?
Business-Fundas: I would rank SABTrends at 5, which is pretty great, considering it’s a new blog. The content coverage in SABtrends is really huge and ensures reachability across different partners and different readers. It addresses various needs, which appears ambitious, but has a huge scope.
It is a pleasure having the top-ranked business platform from India on SABTrends Blog today, wish you best in your awareness creation world.
