Grenada, the island country of the Caribbean Sea, which is also known as “Island of Spice” due to nutmeg production and maize cultivation. Besides this, the island country is also known for its untouched beauty, warm people with simple and authentic lifestyle. Anyone could fall in love with the serenity, purity and beauty of silky white beaches. The pristine beauty and green landscapes not only welcome tourists and holiday makers but also attract foreign investors and businessmen to invest their capital here.
With an aim to facilitate foreign investors, State Government started offering economic citizenship. All you need is to submit an application via licensed agents. Started in August 2013, the residency program allocates legal rights to live and work like a native in Grenada.
Applicants who are fulfilling these certain personal requirements of the age limit of 18 years, crime-free background and good health are eligible to submit and proceed further to become the Grenadian.
Grenada citizenship by investmentcan be obtained after following these five processes.
Step1
An authorised international marketing officer is required, as direct applications from the candidates are not acceptable. CBIC- Citizenship by Investment Committee only accept applications from brokers. International marketing agents coordinated with official local agents to kick start the initial process.
At this point, I am also including the brief definitions of both.
Authorised international marketing agent is a reliable global marketer with legal rights to promote the residency plans and assist applicants to contact with Authorised Local Agent.
Authorised Local Agents possess a Minister license, which authorises them to process on the behalf of the applicant.
Step2
After completing the initial introduction with the representative, a local officer will help applicants to prepare their documents to file their case to CBIC. In addition to the completely filled application form, medical examination certificates and other supporting documents in English are also required to finally submit the application. If a candidate is planning to purchase a real estate there instead of making financial funding, he/she must have reserved it with a purchase agreement. The local agent later helps their clients to prepare documents.
Step3
Upon completion of all the documents, the local worker finally submits the application to CBIC. Once the candidate delivers documents to his agent, he starts communicating with the respective authorities and corresponds to their queries and questions, they may have regarding the applicant’s case. Recently there are no requirements to appear in an interview to gain the economic residency.
Step4
Once applications are submitted, Governmental authorities thoroughly examined these applications to verify the accuracy of the information provided. After complete due diligence, CBIC finally writes a recommendation letter for applicants. Finally, the Minister takes the decision on the basis of the recommendation. If everything goes well and applicant fulfils all the requirements, Ministry issues an approval which is followed with a letter to the official representative telling that candidate is either successful or his case is delayed for further processing.
Step5
If CBIC receives a positive approval from the Minister, it issues an instruction letter to the local agent of the candidate to clearly mention that the applicant is allowed either to proceed to make the financial contribution or to purchase a real estate in designated areas. As soon as applicants receive proof of making investments and property purchase, their negotiators will use it to gain the passport finally.
Summary: This legal protocol has been established to preserve the prestige and value of the Grenada nationality, which every individual has to follow who is willing obtain the legal native rights to live there.
